I’m sorry, am I losing you?

The latest episode of Michael Byrne’s podcast series on Emotional Intelligence includes some worthwhile advice for anyone who’s ever felt that their enthusiasm for the technical features of a product or service might have distracted them from the more mundane expectations of their customers.
“… the audience gets more and more disenfranchised, you put your customers out in the cold, you disengage your customers from you …”
Instead of impressing people with facts and figures, excessive detailing is actually a sign of insecurity. As Michael explains, it takes a good measure of the key emotional skill we call assertiveness, for a person to stop talking and ask: “I’m sorry, am I losing you?”
The QBC Podcast series is produced by Edgecast Media.
